The Green Flag Award is the national standard
for parks and green spaces in England and Wales. Awards are given
on an annual basis and winners must apply each year to renew their
Green Flag status. There is a charge to enter for each park, which
varies according to the size of the open space.
The decision proposed is to reduce the number of park and
countryside entries into Green Flag from 8 to 2 for the year
2024.
The following sites will not be entered into the award for
2024:
Allen House Grounds (Stoke)
Chilworth Gunpowder Mills (Tillingbourne)
Lakeside Nature Reserve (Ash Vale)
Onslow Recreation Ground (Onslow)
Riverside Nature Reserve (Burpham)
Sutherland Memorial Park (Burpham)
Stoke Park (Stoke) and Castle Grounds (Castle) will be entered into
the Green Flag award.
