Information about Planning Committee

Comprising 15 Councillors out of 48, the Planning Committee determines planning applications and related matters which have not been dealt with by Officers under delegated authority. The Planning Committee meets every four weeks.

Owing to the High Courts recent ruling that the emergency covid-19 legislation could not be extended beyond 6 May 2021 to permit the continuation of virtual meetings, all future meetings of the Planning Committee will now have to be held in person.  Also, owing to the lifting of the Covid-19 regulations as of 19 July, everyone who is participating in the meeting, key officers, members of the Committee, ward councillors and public speakers must all now attend in person.  There will be no provision to attend virtually via MSTeams.

Before you attend, please think about the following:

You may wish to have a Covid-19 test prior to attending the meeting.  Follow the link below:

You may also obtain a test through the post but the lead time is longer for the result.

If you should receive a positive result you will not be permitted to attend the meeting and you should isolate as required under public health guidance.

If you have Covid symptoms you should not attend the meeting.

Please follow public safety instructions if you are travelling by public transport.

Hand sanitizers will be available on arrival and departure and in the Council Chamber. Please use these regularly.

Please dress warmly as the Council Chamber will be well ventilated and with doors open.

Please bring your own water/tea/coffee (sufficient for the evening) in a suitable container as sharing water coolers will not be permitted and no refreshments will be available.

Face masks will be required to enter and exit the Council building but can be removed once seated.

Please maintain a social distance from others of 2 metres once inside the building.
