Election of Mayor 2019-20

Upon the motion of Councillor Paul Spooner, seconded by Councillor Caroline Reeves, the Council unanimously

 

RESOLVED: That Councillor Richard Billington be elected Mayor for the municipal year 2019-20.

 

Mike Parsons vacated the chair.

 

Having been invested with the Mayoral robes and Chain of Office, Councillor Richard Billington made the statutory Declaration of Acceptance of Office and took the Oath of Allegiance. The Mayor then took the chair.

Appointment of Deputy Mayor 2019-20

Upon the motion of the Mayor, Councillor Richard Billington, seconded by Councillor Paul Spooner, the Council unanimously

 

RESOLVED: That Councillor Marsha Moseley be appointed Deputy Mayor for the municipal year 2019-20.

 

Having been invested with the Deputy Mayoral robes and Chain of Office, Councillor Marsha Moseley made the statutory Declaration of Acceptance of Office and took the Oath of Allegiance.

(a)         Civic Service – 12 May 2019

The Mayor invited councillors to accompany him to the Civic Service at Holy Trinity Church, High Street, Guildford at 11.30am on Sunday 12 May 2019. 

 

(b)         Selection Council Meeting – 15 May 2019

         The Mayor also reminded councillors that there would be a meeting of the Council at 7pm on Wednesday 15 May 2019 to consider, among other things, the election of the Leader of the Council, appointment of committees, and appointment of committee chairmen for the municipal year 2019-20.

 

(c)     Prevent training session for councillors – 8 May 2019

The Mayor informed councillors that the Prevent training session for new councillors due to take place at 7pm this evening had been cancelled and would be re-scheduled for later in the year.

To receive the report of the Returning Officer upon the election of Borough Councillors held on Thursday 2 May 2019 (to follow).

The Council received the report of the Returning Officer upon the results of the Election of Borough Councillors held on Thursday 2 May 2019, for the wards of the Borough of Guildford as set out in the Appendix hereto.
