The Council has received a request to grant a Licence for access and use as a site compound of land part of the Old Police Station Car Park, Leapale Road, Guildford, in line with the following terms and conditions:

The licence will be granted to Surrey County Council.

The period of the licence will be for 2 months from the 5th of June 2023.

The Grantees have agreed to pay £13,333.34 + VAT (£16,000) for the licence, plus our costs.

The Grantees will be required to obtain our approval for access and egress from Woodbridge Road to a site compound for the temporary storage of disposal materials in connection with works to replace the existing paving in Swan Lane, Guildford.

The Grantees will have a secondary point of access to carry out works to relocate 4 disabled parking bays from the area being used as a site compound to the remainder of the car park, which will be accessible from Leapale Road. The capacity of the car park will be reduced from the present 58 spaces to 48 spaces (including the 4 disabled parking bays).

Reasons for the decision:

To assist Surrey County Council with their engineering works in Swan Lane, to formalise their use of the Council’s car park, and to receive consideration for their occupation and use of the Council’s property.

The decision meets the statutory / policy requirements for the Council and there were no alternative options available.
