As approved at the Executive held on 20 March 2023
(EX107: The Executive: 1. Approved progression of Guildford’s UKSPF and REPF plans, as outlined in the report), the Surrey SME Decarbonisation Loan Pilot will be delivered by Surrey County Council (SCC) on behalf of Guildford Borough Council and other local Councils. The initiative will provide business advice to applicants and then low interest loans of between £5k-£15k to eligible SME businesses to install energy efficiency measures to reduce their carbon emissions and provide energy savings.

This project aims to support SMEs to invest in decarbonisation measures including heating, lighting and energy efficiency measures. This will help the business to reduce their carbon emissions and provide annual energy savings to the business. The project will also help contribute towards the target of Surrey being net zero by 2050.

The loan pilot will operate across participating Surrey Districts and Boroughs. Phase 1 of the loan pilot has capital funding of £200k.

Subject to the success of stage 1 of the pilot and agreement by the SCC Capital Programme Panel, a further £400k will be available for stage 2.
