Decision details

License to alter 37 Maidstone Crescent MOD property that this council is leasing from the MOD to house Afghan Refugees under the ARAP resettlement scheme

Decision Maker: Joint Executive Head: Community Services

Decision status: Recommendations approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

The property in question has unsuitable shower facilities to support the resettled family. We need to pursue a license to alter under our agreement with the MOD to replace the existing mixer deck tap with a thermostatic mixing valve capable of filling the bath or supplying a shower. We also need to fit a 1 bar twin impeller booster pump below the bath supplied locally to supply this valve only.
The total cost of the works will be £2,544.00 and can be sourced out of the refugee budget.
In implementing these works we are not causing any damage to the MOD property

Reasons for the decision:

Implementing this bathing and shower facility is essential to the wellbeing of the resettled tenants and can comply with their religious and health and wellbeing needs.

Alternative options considered:

If we were not to do these works we would not be meeting the needs of the tenants or meeting our obligation to acting in accordance with equalities and diversity law.
