Procurement of ten laptops for organisation use e.g. Officer/Councillor devices

Reasons for the decision:

Guildford's Resource Case Services team operate an IT Servicedesk internally. This includes the issuing and maintenance of laptops to Officers and Councillors. It is currently predicted that the working stock of laptops will be used up within the next couple of weeks. It was therefore considered necessary to purchase a small quantity of laptops to meet foreseeable demand and provide a small stock for unplanned events such as hardware failures.

Alternative options considered:

The Council's usual procurement route did not have stock of suitable devices. Three quotes were sought from alternative suppliers that the Council has purchased from previously. The suppliers came back with a range of options that were considered against the specification provided to them, with price being a significant part in the evaluation. The most suitable of the lower-cost options was chosen.
