The Community Meals service will be unable to
continue without the newly proposed service delivery model, from
1st October 2024. It has been agreed to source equipment to cook
meals onsite rather than reorder ChefMobil vehicles to provide more
resilience and consistency to the service. The hotbox model has
been in use for several years with other Councils nationally with
great results. Therefore it has been agreed this is the way forward
for Guildford Borough Council.
To allow the service to continue running from
1st October 2024 - without the necessary equipment we are unable to
offer the same level of service that is in place currently, which
would result in a significant gap in service or even complete
service failure. This decision links in with the purchase of our
new Community Meals vehicles fleet.
Other service delivery models have been
considered -
1) Continue with current service delivery model, with a new
contract to lease ChefMobil vehicles. This would not be a cost
effective options for the Council and does not offer the service
resilience required.
